Congratulations to Sibert Medal and YALSA Nonfiction Award winners as well as honor books and finalists! Youth Media Awards were announced Monday at the American Library Association (ALA) 2012 Midwinter Meeting.
Distinguished books for children and young adults received awards, including the Caldecott, Newbery, Coretta Scott King and Printz medals.
The John Newbery Medal for the most outstanding contribution to children’s literature was awarded to Dead End in Norvelt, written by Jack Gantos and published by Farrar Straus Giroux.
The Randolph Caldecott Medal for the most distinguished American picture book for children was awarded to A Ball for Daisy, illustrated and written by Chris Raschka and published by Schwartz & Wade Books, an imprint of Random House Children’s Books.
